One Week Until 4 Day Passes Go On Sale (and Sell Out)!

A few weeks ago, on the day they announced that Comic-Con International would be sticking around San Diego at least through 2015 (huzzah!), I finally got to meet up with the grand prize winner of the Unauthorized San Diego Comic-Con Survival Guide promotional drawing that we held in the months leading up to Comic-Con 2010.

 
The rules were simple: spread the word about the SDCC Survival Guide on Facebook or on Twitter and submit an entry to win (no purchase necessary), and your name would be entered in a drawing to win a 4 Day pass (with preview night) to San Diego Comic-Con 2011!*** That lucky person was Adrianne Ramos, a native of San Diego. It took awhile to work out a date and time when I could make it down to San Diego from LA, but it was worth the wait. Adrianne was exactly the type of person who I hoped would win it, excited and ready to explore everything a whole week of Comic-Con could give her! In the past, she’s only been able to visit Comic-Con for a day, so I was very happy to hand her the now sold out big ticket exactly one month to the day before the rest of the 4 day passes (without preview night) go on sale on November 1st.

Yes, consider that a warning! One week from the moment this has been posted, the 4 day passes and, of course, single day passes will go on sale on the official Comic-Con website! DO NOT HESITATE! I wouldn’t be surprised if we see another big record set this year with the 4 day passes selling out the same day they go on sale. If they don’t sell out within the day, expect them to disappear within the week. If you remember, all 4 day memberships sold out last year at this time as well. It’s going to be brutal, folks, so no matter how hard you partied on Halloween, make sure to get up the next morning (Monday, November 1st at 9am PACIFIC TIME) in time to snag those passes! (you were planning to call in sick to work anyway, right?)

*** How did I acquire the 4 day pass WITH PREVIEW NIGHT for the giveaway? I took my own advice as detailed on pages 12 and 164 of the Unauthorized San Diego Comic-Con Survival Guide. And, no, Comic-Con didn’t comp me. I stood in line and bought the ticket with the money from the book sales. I was lucky to snag a pass in Adrianne’s name less than 2 hours before they sold out on Sunday afternoon. Who wants to bet that the Comic-Con 2012 4 day passes with preview night will sell out even earlier on-site in 2011? Buy my book and be prepared for almost anything!
