Are you doing anything fun this weekend? Well, I’m heading out on a teeny tiny little book tour this weekend (is it really a “tour” if it’s only 2 shows and I get to come home and sleep in my bed each night?) to promote the Unauthorized San Diego Comic-Con Survival Guide. Why bother with shipping fees when you can spend money on gas and parking and a bunch of other books while you’re at it? I’ll have the SDCC Survival Guide available for only $5 each this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!
1st stop: Wizard World Anaheim Comic-Con 2011 – Held at the Anaheim Convention Center just down the road from Disneyland. I’ll be there both Friday night and all day Saturday, hanging out at Luis Calderon‘s booth #1806, where he will be selling the Survival Guide along with his own creative projects, Space Johny and Deadtective. He’s an extremely creative guy who is self-publishing his own books along with his many talented friends. He’ll be raffling off some fun stuff at his table, so come on by. As I write this, I’m gathering a few SDCC-centric goodies to include in that drawing as well for those who check out my book. And even though I won’t be there on Sunday, my books should still be available at Luis’s table. And speaking of Sunday…
2nd stop: LA Times Festival of Books – After years at UCLA, the Festival of Books has officially moved to it’s new location on the USC campus in downtown LA. This is a massive event, packed with tons of goodies (not just books, but great FOOD too!) around every corner. I’ll be there in booth #882 with the Minibuk guys, the people who printed the Survival Guide in it’s fun and functional mini-sized format. If there ever was a place in LA to indulge your love of reading, this is the place to be. It also takes place on Saturday, but you’ll want to be with me at the Anaheim Comic-Con that day, right?
If you hit either one of these events, be sure to stop by and say hi. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have about the book or Comic-Con in general. I may not be at the Anaheim table the whole time, but I will check in from time to time between taking pictures for PopCultureGeek.com and Cosplay of the Day. But at the Festival of Books, you should be able to find me at the booth pretty much most of the time starting at 1pm until about 5pm (I plan on going to see Patton Oswalt speak in the morning).
So here’s the schedule:
Friday – Anaheim Comic-Con (Anaheim Convention Center) – 5pm to 9pm
Saturday – Anaheim Comic-Con (Anaheim Convention Center) – 10am to 7pm
Sunday – LA Times Festival of Books (USC campus) – 1pm to 5pm
Hope to see you there!
